Imagine every paper or source idea as a point in one vast space. You pick one, the AI lifts out its way of doing things — and then your intuition steps in and aims that method at the exact region where your problem lives. Human intuition chooses where to look; the engine carries the method there and tests, honestly, whether it lands.

In Explorer, Research, and Frontier, your directed projections count inside the promised 5, 10, or 25 cards. Any unused directed slots become scouted cards; each target beyond the included allowance adds one card for $25.

When it doesn't fit

A "no" is not an empty hand.

The narrow circle is the riskiest, most precise bet you can make — and sometimes the method just doesn't live there. That is real, useful information, not a wasted run. And the next circle out is a small step, not a new purchase.

You haven't lost anything.

An honest "this doesn't fit your narrow space" saved you from chasing a false analogy — the most expensive mistake in research is the lead that looks right and isn't.

And you are not back at zero. You already paid for the projection into that field; the only thing left is to draw a slightly bigger circle. Your first eligible widening is free. Any later widening is $15 to re-run the search against the larger circle and check fit again.

Widening is not a second projection purchase. It re-scouts the wider field, re-translates the mechanism, re-audits the citations, and checks fit again. If it still does not fit, we say so plainly. Founding Beta also offers Depth 2 for $35, Depth 3 for $60, and three Depth-2 credits for $79.
